The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday confirmed the arrest of two men, Joseph Calderon and Rodel Ancheta, both residents of Quezon City, for illegally distributing and activating Globe WiMax modems.
Chief Insp. Kimberly Molitas Gonzales, NCRPO spokesman, said that the two were arrested in separate buy-bust operations on Wednesday and Thursday. They were illegally making copies of an internet subscription using a disconnected Globe WiMax modem which they would reactivate with an unlimited broadband service.
According to reports, Globe estimates their losses from the operation to be around P10 million. The pair will be charged with a violation of the Access Devices Regulation Act, E-Commerce Act and the Anti-Fencing Law.
