2 injured in 9-vehicle smashup in C-5

Late afternoon commuters and motorists were greeted by a horrendous traffic jam at C-5 road on Thursday. According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase, heavy traffic was caused by a 9-vehicle smashup at the south-bound ramp of the elevated U-turn along C-5 Road near Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City. Injured were Rodolfo Gapan, 34, who was driving the truck loaded with asphalt. Gapan was pinned inside his vehicle and was rushed to the Rizal Medical Hospital in Pasig City.

A Philippine Star report said Gapan’s truck lost its brakes caused the smashup on: Hyundai Accent (UOP-195), a jeepney (NWV-714), another sedan (PDQ-839), a Toyota Revo van (CRZ-895), a Nissan Urvan van (ZKY-799), two other trucks (RGA-857 and RMD-312) and a motorcycle (9519 QY).
