Reports say “money changed hands.”
“According to Major General Domingo Tutaan, spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the plane carrying Stefan Okonek, 71, and Henrike Dielen, 55 — the two German hostages released by the Abu Sayyaf Group — arrived at the Villamor Airbase at 6:45am on Saturday, October 18,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report noted: “The hostages, who were captured by the Abu Sayyaf group in April from a yacht on the high seas, were held in the interior of the remote island of Jolo.”
Tutaan revealed that the German embassy has taken custody of its two nationals.
The report said that the Abu Sayyaf “got a portion of the P250 million ($5.56 million) they had demanded on Friday night, October 17.”
