Two Filipino-Americans are the masterminds behind a now-viral fake McDonald’s poster that was hung in one of the fast-food giant’s outlets in Pearland, Texas. Their reason for doing the stunt? More Asian representation.

Jevh Maravilla posted on Twitter on Monday a photo of himself with his friend Christian Toledo posing next to their fake McDonald’s poster.

“I noticed there was a blank wall at McDonald’s, so I decided to make this fake poster of me and my friend,” Maravilla wrote in the tweet.

The poster was hung on the wall on July 13, but it was only after 51 days that Maravilla decided to share the mischievous deed on Twitter.

Before the viral tweet, Maravilla posted a YouTube video of how they did it on Aug. 2.

“If you haven’t noticed, there isn’t a lot of Asians represented in the media. And hopefully one day I could see someone like me on the big screen,” Maravilla says in the video.

He shares in the video how they did it: Maravilla and his friend posed for the picture looking like students.

They put their editing skills to the test and created a poster that was similar to the ones used at the outlet. Maravilla got a McDonald’s t-shirt at a thrift shop to make it look like he was a staff member, in case things go south and they get caught.

Smart move.

In the latter part of the video, he and two other friends take a few seconds to mount the poster when McD’s employees weren’t around. Then voila, done.

It was such a cool idea that their video now has over 760,000 views.

“Remember folks, all races deserve recognition,” he ends the video.

Thankfully, all the hard work paid off. The outlet told CNN that they are keeping the poster on their wall for a bit.

Mariselle Quijano, the owner of the branch told CNN: “We take pride in highlighting diversity in every aspect of our restaurants. We applaud these students’ creativity and hope to see them in our restaurants again soon.”

The tweet had over 975,000 likes and 247,000 retweets as of this article’s posting.

Netizens were all amused by the stunt.

@jo_kate7 wrote in a tweet: “That is so cool! [L]ove it.”

@Extraboringname added: “It’s brilliant!”

It got people talking and some folks actually want to do the same thing. @liljohny29 wrote: “I saw this yesterday and thought I would totally do that.”

@Steph_Spring tagged a friend and said: “[W]e obviously need to do this too lol.”
