Why is it so easy for these criminals to pretend to be cops?
“The suspects, identified by the police as Redentor Cuntapay Jr. and Rodolf Manalo, were flagged down for not wearing helmets and subsequently arrested by authorities at a checkpoint in Pasig City on Thursday evening, Jan 16,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The police got suspicious when they saw that Cuntapay was wearing a fake “POLICE” T-shirt and jacket.
Cuntapay and Manalo were later positively identified by security guard Jefferson Pulido as the ones who “confiscated” his service firearm for having a “damaged firing pin.”
Cuntapay had given Pulifo a fake contact number that he could call supposedly to “redeem” his gun. Pulido called the number and realized he had been duped. He then filed a complaint with the real police.
According to the report, another fake “POLICE” shirt, fake IDs, and several IDs of security guards whom they allegedly victimized were recovered from the suspects. They had been selling guns that they took from security guards.
