2 ‘decent-looking’ Ecstasy dealers nabbed by cops

In the world of illegal drug trade, there is more than meets the eye.

Some drugs that look like harmless candy. And the drug dealers? They could be well-dressed and “decent-looking.”

In a buy-bust operation, “business partners” Neil Beltran Songco, 47, and Lilia Licuanan, 62, were caught handing 10 heart-shaped Ecstasy pills to a “client” in front of Padi’s Point along Timog Avenue on Tuesday at 12:45am.

The “high-value” police targets did not resist arrest, Inquirer reports.

“If you look at them, they had a fair complexion. The guy was even wearing a polo. They looked decent. They were people you really would not suspect of being in the drug business,” said Chief Insp. Robert Razon, head of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operation Task Group.

In addition to the 10 Ecstasy pills worth PHP1,500 each, the police seized 55 other tablets from their possession. The goods seized from the suspects had a total street value of PHP97,500.

According to a police informant, the two had been selling “party drugs” to “partygoers and concertgoers” along the Timog strip.

The arrested suspects were in a state of shock. They refused to give information about their sources.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act would be filed against the suspects, who were detained at the NCRPO headquarters in Taguig.
