Two people died while another remains hospitalized after an apparent food poisoning brought about by allegedly contaminated milk tea in Manila.
According to Jonathan Bautista of the Manila Police District homicide section, couple Suzaine Dagohoy, 28 and Arnold Aydalla, 34, went to the ErgoCha Tea shop along Bustillos Street.
They ordered Hokkaido Milk Tea, which they returned after a few minutes, saying it had a strange taste.
The owner, 57-year old William Abrigo, maintained there was nothing wrong with the product and even took a sip to prove his point.
But upon leaving the shop, Dagohoy fell unconscious. Her boyfriend tried to help her but he collapsed as well.
Meanwhile, Abrigo also collapsed inside the milk tea house.
The three were rushed to a hospital in Sampaloc.
Rey Fernandez, the tricycle driver who brought them to the hospital, said the victims were foaming at the mouth.
Dagohoy was declared dead on arrival, while Abrigo died a few hours later.
Aydalla is still in the hospital.
The police is awaiting the results of the autopsy to identify what caused the death of Dagohoy and Abrigo. —report from Zhander Cayabyab, DZMM
