A family experienced two tragic deaths when a pair of young brothers drowned in a river in Obando, Bulacan on Saturday afternoon.
Victims James Andrew Bornales, 6 years old, and Russel Bornales, 8 years old, were taking a bath in a river near their home in Barangay (Village) Paco when the incident happened, reports state.
According to GMA News, the two children were with a younger brother aged 4 years old who waited a bit before taking a bath and asked for help when he noticed that his brothers had not gotten out of the water.
People immediately came to help but it was allegedly already too late when they arrived at the scene. ABS-CBN News reported that the boys allegedly did not tell the rescue officers in the area that they would take a dip in the river. There was allegedly no one looking after the kids when the incident happened.
Their mother Jennelyn Bornales told GMA News that she left her kids with someone she works with when she had to get items she was supposed to sell. Her husband, on the other hand, was allegedly at work at the time. However, Paco Barangay Captain Manny San Diego said that the parents already had a case at the Department of Social Welfare and Development for allegedly neglecting their children.
