On Wed afternoon, Feb 17, two boys were hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train along Quirino Highway in Manila. One of the boys died on the spot, while the other died later at the hospital. The boys were aged 12 and 13 years old.
“According to witnesses, the two boys were crossing the southbound railway when they got hit by an oncoming train. Residents near the PNR railway said they did not recognize the two victims. They said it is possible that the two lived along Osmeña Highway and were just passing through the area,” reports Zhander Cayabyab on ABS-CBNnews.com.
“The other boy, whose leg was amputated, died while undergoing treatment at the Philippine General Hospital,” reports Aie Balagtas See in The Philippine Star.
The Star report explained: “The boys were walking along the railroad tracks Wednesday afternoon when the sound of an oncoming train caused them to panic. Before they got off the tracks, the train — with body number MSC-1337 and driven by Jake Sevilla — ran them over.”
The Star report revealed that “Sevilla will face homicide charges for the boys’ deaths.”
