2 arrested for allegedly stealing cans of disinfectant in Pasay City

Pinoys have become obsessed with buying disinfectants since the pandemic began, thinking that by arming themselves with bottles of cleaning products, they can adequately protect themselves from the coronavirus. Two residents of Pasay City took this a little further by allegedly stealing 6 cans of disinfectant yesterday from a convenience store.

Suspects Maria Cecilia Basa, 29, and Randy Villamoran, 45 were arrested by the authorities when they left the store without paying for their allegedly stolen goods. Village officials saw them pilfering the products, worth about PHP1,788 (US$36.79), at 12:45pm.

The two were nabbed by the officials and brought to the Pasay City police. Cops are investigating the crime to determine why the two stole the cans of disinfectant. Both suspects have been charged with theft.
