18-year-old racer Bianca Bustamante made history as the first Filipino to win a Formula 1 (F1) Academy race, snagging her first career victory.

The rising star won in the second race of F1 Academy’s Round 2 held in Valencia, Spain on Saturday.

“The anthem was played, we raised the flag. We won!!” Bustamante wrote on social media.

Bustamante’s win also comes months after she joined the PREMA Racing team, scoring the Italian motorsports team its third win.

The F1 Academy is an all-female racing championship founded by Formula One, with its goal to champion female motorsports drivers.

Bustamente’s win has placed her sixth in the overall drivers’ standing with 44 points. Meanwhile, PREMA teammate Marta García leads the scoreboard with 96 points.

The F1 Academy’s inaugural season has seven rounds in the calendar, with Round 3 to be held in Barcelona from May 19 to 21.
