Why are so many trigger-happy people roaming our streets?
“At around 7am on Monday, Dec 9, a 17-year-old girl in Sangandaan was shot when the driver of the tricycle she was riding figured in an argument with a pedestrian, who was later identified as Jayson Bitago, who is also suspected of shooting a policeman,” reports Janvic Mateo in The Philippine Star.
According to witnesses, Bitago, was crossing the street when a tricycle driven by Gamboa rushed past him. Bitago got mad, so he and Gamboa began to argue. Bitago then pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and shot at the tricycle. Gamboa managed to avoid getting hit, but the 17-year-old girl who was inside his tricycle wasn’t so lucky. She got hit in the back. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
Bitago was arrested almost immediately after the shooting, as Senior Police Officer 1 Roy Villareal was passing through the area on his motorcycle at the time of the incident.
The report further revealed: “Chief Inspector Edilberto Nicanor, deputy chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said Bitago has likewise been identified by a witness as the same person who shot SPO3 Renato Corado last Oct 20.”
