The Department of Education should probably ban boxing from students’ athletic meets after this.
“Jonas Joshua Garcia, the 16-year-old student boxer who had been in critical condition at the University of Santo Tomas hospital after getting hurt at a regional athletic meet in Zambales passed away on Sunday, Dec 15,” reports GMA News Online.
Garcia—a fourth-year high school student from San Miguel, Bulacan—developed a blood clot in the brain last week after a boxing match at a regional meet organized by the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association. He had been brain dead for days.
He was transferred to the UST Hospital on Thursday, Dec 12.
