Another life has been wasted.
“Christian P. de la Cruz, 14, died on Friday, June 26, after being subjected to initiation rites carried out by the True Brown Style (TBS) group in Bulacan,” reports Trish Roque on News5.
Police disclosed that the initiation was carried out at the home of a TBS member in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. De la Cruz managed to return home after the said event. However, as related by his mother, De la Cruz seemed to be in a lethargic state and complained of severe body pains. He later threw up and was unconscious. He was brought to the hospital, where doctors tried in vain to revive him.
Police proceeded to arrest several TBS members, including the gang’s leader who’s reportedly still a minor. One of those taken under custody, identified as Christian Pitas, told investigators in Filipino: “It was an accident. We did not want that to happen. We were surprised at what transpired.”
The report noted: “According to Police Supt. Rodolfo Hernandez, the suspects attend various schools in Sta. Maria and, apparently, became friends who were lured into joining the gang.”
The suspects face charges for violating the Anti-Hazing Law resulting in homicide.
