Jamyla Domingo Lambunao is only 13 years old but is already a third year high school student at St. Scholastica’s Academy-Marikina. On top of that, she recently won two gold medals at the Championship in Los Angeles, California.
As you may have deduced, Lambunao has a superb memory. How superb? ANC explained: “It only takes Lambunao one minute to memorize and recite 50 words that were just read to her while she was blindfolded. She can also memorize 300 words in 15 minutes. Plus, she can recite all the words she memorized in reverse order.”
Aside from words, Lambunao is equally good at memorizing number and image sequences.
What’s even more amazing is that she is a humble kid. When asked about her great memory, she simply said, “Actually, wala naman pong sikreto (there is no secret). It’s just a trained skill.”
She also said it was tough to keep joining contests because, for one, she can’t be an honor student. “Hindi po ako pwede maging honor kasi one month po akong absent (I can’t be an honor student because I was gone for a month),” she said matter-of-factly. She said she was already thankful that the school allowed her to go on trips abroad to join memory tournaments.
For being so good-natured alone, this girl deserves more medals.
