Together with his parents, a 12-year-old found himself facing authorities after taking the wheel of a pickup truck and colliding with another vehicle while on the way to buy water in Talisay, Cebu.

The incident took place on Uldog Street in Barangay Cansojong. Fortunately, as confirmed by a Facebook post from the City of Talisay Traffic Operations & Development Authority (CT-TODA), the unnamed juvenile driver and his passengers emerged unharmed from the accident.

“CT-TODA met with the parent of a 12-year-old who was involved in a vehicle collision at the Talisay City Social Welfare Office under the management of Mam Felipa Solana,” CT-TODA said in a statement.

The meeting emphasized the illegality of allowing underage children to operate vehicles and held the parent responsible for the incident. The boy’s father, who had instructed his son to buy water, expressed his astonishment at his child’s decision to embark on a joyride instead.

The matter was eventually resolved amicably, with the boy’s father agreeing to cover the minor damages incurred by the other party’s vehicle.
