A 12-year-old girl was found dead with her throat slit inside her home in Barangay (Village) 171 in Caloocan City yesterday.
A domestic worker employed by the Grade 4 student’s family found her bloodied and lying on the kitchen floor at around 4pm, ABS-CBN News reported.
The victim was all alone when the incident happened. She reportedly went home early from school that afternoon as it was her exam week, GMA News reported.
The victim’s parents were at work in Manila while one of her siblings was out and another was at school.
Authorities recovered a knife from the crime scene; two cellphones were also missing from the house.
The investigation shows that there was no sign of forced entry, an indication that the suspect may have close ties with the victim’s family.
Colenso Singson, the victim’s father, told Radyo Inquirer that his brother-in-law has a duplicate key to their home. He also said that the unnamed relative took a bath at their house at noon the same day of the crime.
Police are still investigating the incident.
