They escaped the fire that started on the inner slope of the famed mountain, but they’re in trouble for violating Republic Act No. 9847. The law has made Mt. Banahaw off limits to the public for the purpose of environmental preservation.
It doesn’t help though that authorities have confirmed that the fire was most definitely man-made.
“The fire, which affected affected 50 hectares of the mountain, raged on for almost 24 hours. It was declared out at 11am on Thursday, Mar 20,” reports ANC.
