It’s shoe time!
“Datian Subic Shoes, Inc.’s US$10 million manufacturing facility is currently being constructed at the Subic Bay Gateway Park (SBGP) at the Subic Bay Freeport in Pampanga,” reports Jonas Reyes in Manila Bulletin.
Its parent company is D&T Shoes.
According to Datian Subic President Vincent Chen, the 42,800- square meter shoe plant will produce branded shoes for export such as Keds, Converse, Sperry, and Vans for the American market, as well as Hugo Boss and Dr. Martens for the European market.
The report noted: “The shoe factory will have 400 job openings during its initial stage. Then, it’s expected to hire 2,500 employees within three to five years of full operation.”
Chen added that “considering the necessary adjustments on the project components, development schedule, and arrival of equipment and construction materials, they’re looking at commencing operations on or before the second quarter of 2017.”
