Who’s the real predator now?
“Earlier this week, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Zamboanga confiscated around 100 kilos of shark skin found on board the MV Asia One Spun at the Zamboanga Port,” reports ABS-CBN News Zamboanga correspondent RJ Rosalado on ABS-CBNnews.com.
The ship, which was bound for Manila, was loaded with sacks containing shark skin.
Lt. Jomark Aungue of PCG Zamboanga revealed that “the shipment was supposed to be sent to a certain Ricardo Jose, while a certain Dennis Atillo shipped the sacks from General Santos City.”
The report noted that the “shipment and transportation of shark skin without a permit from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is prohibited by law.”
Shark skin is known to be used for making fabric.
