10 Koreans arrested at One Serendra

Has Bonifacio Global City become the center for expats who are up to no good?

“On Tuesday, Feb 3, 10 Korean nationals were arrested inside several units at the East Tower of One Serendra Condominium in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig for allegedly facilitating illegal online gambling,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

According to the police, the suspects had been facilitating online gambling for Korean bettors. The report revealed that among the suspects were Lee Youn-ju and Jin Ho-lee, are wanted in their home country.

The report indicated that the bust was the culmination of an operation that started when “the International Criminal Police Organization in South Korea wrote the Philippine National Police (PNP) on December 14, 2012, asking for assistance to locate 8 Korean fugitives involved in online gambling and believed to be operating in the Philippines.”

The Koreans will be charged for violating Republic Act 8484 ( (Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998) and Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by RA 9287 (An Act Increasing the Penalties for Illegal Number Games). They are now under the custody of PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).
