10 Coast Guard personnel found positive for drug use

It’s tough when you find out some government workers are possible users of illegal drugs.

In line with the government’s anti-drug campaign, 2,000 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel were subjected to a surprise drug test at the PCG Headquarters in Sangley Point, Cavite earlier this month. Unfortunately, 10 of them were found positive for drug use.

“PCG spokesperson Commander Armand Balilo said a confirmatory test has been conducted to verify the presence of drugs in fluid samples from the 10 PCG personnel. Balilo said they will be dismissed from service should they again test positive for drugs,” reports ABS-CBN News.

Balilo added that unannounced drug tests will also be held soon in PCG regional offices.

The report noted: “The 35 PCG officers who were found to be using drugs in 2014 are still undergoing summary proceedings under the disciplinary board.”
