It was a “smashup.” There’s no other word for it.
“On Wednesday morning, Jan 8, 73-year-old Alfonso Mallari was driving his Honda Civic from the Quezon Memorial Circle when he lost control and hit the center island before crossing into the opposite lane,” reports The Philippine Star.
It didn’t end there.
The spinning Civic then bumped an Isuzu D Max pickup and then a Toyota Innova. It also hit a Mitsubishi Adventure. It continued spinning until it hit a taxicab.
Mallari was pulled out of the Civic and rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center, where he died. Taxi driver Rodelio Cabutaje and his still unidentified passenger were injured in the accident.
