San Juan bystanders maul robber who killed taxi driver

Instant justice feels good—it’s just too bad somebody died.

“Erick Balon, 20, was beaten up by bystanders in Barangay Pedro Cruz in San Juan City who manage to corner him after he killed taxi driver Pedro Yepes, 45,” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.

Based on police reports, Balon got on Yepes’ taxi in Cubao, Quezon City. He asked the latter to take him somewhere in San Juan City. At around 12:15am on Tuesday, Feb 25, the taxi reached a dimly-lighted mini park. That was when Balon pulled out a fan knife and told Yepes to hand over his earnings. Yepes fought back. Balon ended up stabbing him.

To Balon’s surprise, he was overpowered by bystanders when he attempted to flee from the scene. Sadly, Yepes was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
