Cebu City Council backs bill pushing 14th month pay

Thanks, Cebuanos!

“The Cebu City Council has passed a resolution fully supporting House Bill 6239, otherwise known as the ’14th Month Salary Law,’ filed by Cebuano congressman Rodrigo Abellanosa,” reports Mars W. Moqueda in Tempo.

The report noted: “The bill seeks to provide employees nationwide additional one month of benefit on top of the existing 13th month pay that workers in the country now enjoy.”

The resolution penned by Councilor Alvin Dizon pointed out that “the present economic difficulties brought about by inflation [with regard to] the unfortunate reality that the income of our working class remained the same.”

Dizon, who is vice chairman of the Council’s Committee on Labor and Employment, added that “the government has long overdue in giving workers their just share.”
