MUST WATCH: Restored version of 1996 fantasy movie ‘Magic Temple’ at Power Plant Mall

If you grew up during the 90s, you probably have very fond memories of Magic Temple, the 1996 fantasy film directed by Peque Gallaga. You know, the movie about three teenage boys (played by Jason Salcedo, Junell Hernando and Marc Solis) who embark on an epic joruney to defeat the evil Sifu (played by Jun Urbano) and save the world? There’s also a very young (and cute) Anna Larucea along the way.

You don’t remember? Well, perhaps it is time to revisit this modern fantasy classic and relive your childhood in the process.

Power Plant Mall in Makati City will be screening digitally restored versions of classic Filipino movies as part of ABS-CBN’s Film Restorative Project from Dec 7 to Dec 14.

And yes, their most recent restoration project is Magic Temple

If you’re not interested in seeing Magic Temple, you can catch a number of remastered Filipino movies — including classics such as Mario O’Hara’s Tatlong Taong Walong Diyos, Danny Zialcita’s Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi, Ishmael Bernal’s Himala, and Lino Brocka’s Insiang.

And you even see more recent Star Cinema movies such as Laurice Guillen Tanging Yaman, Marilou Diaz-Abaya’s Bagong Buwan, and Chito Roño Dekada 70.

Check out the screening schedule below:

A lot of these movies originally premiered during past Metro Manila Film Festivals. So really, you can set this as a primer/warm up for the upcoming revamped Christmastime film fest!

Tickets are  priced at PHP230 for regular rates and PHP200 for student rates.
