It pays to have a woman this fierce in your corner.
“Speaking on the ABS-CBN morning show Umagang Kay Ganda on Wednesday, Nov 27, Dionisia Pacquiao, the mother of Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao expressed disappointment with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) after the bank accounts of her son were frozen in relation to his PHP2.2 billion tax evasion case,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to the report, Pacman’s mom said she “felt bad that the BIR would do this to her son after the boxing superstar lifted the spirits of the Filipino people through his recent victory against Brandon Rios in Macau.”
She ranted: “Bakit ganyan ang nangyari?
For the BIR’s part, Commissioner Kim Henares has said that they are only holding PHP1.1 million of Pacman’s money and not PHP2.2 billion. Henares has also claimed that Pacquiao has failed to submit the necessary documents to the BIR so they had to issue the freeze order.
Needless to say, this thing is still being sorted out.
