Lone solar eclipse in 2016 was partially seen in the Philippines

In case you didn’t notice, a partial solar eclipse just happened in the Philippines this morning. The eclipse was at its peak at around 8:58am.

The eclipse was seen in full in Indonesia, sweeping through 34 provinces. South Asia, East Asia, and Australia also witnessed a partial eclipse.

As you might remember from your grade school science class, a solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun. This creates a breath-taking view of the sky.

The last full solar eclipse happened in March 2015 but it was only visible in France. Today’s eclipse is the lone solar eclipse that will happen this year.

Here are some of the cool shots we found on Facebook.
