Viewers can now watch Liway for free, the 2018 Kip Oebanda-directed martial law film starring Glaiza de Castro beginning March 18.

The film has been uploaded on YouTube and is ad-free, so users don’t have to deal with pesky commercials interrupting the viewing experience.

Liway centers on a boy named Dakip, who lives in a prison camp with his mother, a martial law dissident known as Commander Liway.

Distracting him from the difficulties of living in a prison camp, Dakip’s mother tells him stories to protect the child from the realities of a political prisoner’s life.

The film is based on the director’s real-life experience with his mother, Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, aka the “real-life Liway.”

Liway opened at the 14th Cinemalaya Film Festival where it received a special jury commendation and won the audience choice award for full-length feature films.
