During the press conference of Everything About Her on Sun, Jan 17, Kapamilya actor Xian Lim admitted that yes. All the nasty bashing gets to him. He even cried a little admitting the fact.
The actor turned emotional, thanking everyone who believed in him. “Magpapasalamat lang uli ako sa Star Cinema for giving me the chance to give it everything I’ve got. Nagpapasalamat din po ako kay Direk Joyce for giving me trust. Kasi, hindi po lahat naniniwala sa akin.”
He admitted to Rey Pumaloy of PEP.ph that the bashing wasn’t just work-related. “Sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam kung bakit…hindi lang naman tungkol sa craft ko ang sinasabi. Mismong personal ko, tinitira po nila, e.”
But here’s the kicker: the actor knows enough to turn the hate into something positive. Said the actor, the negative writeups have become “a source of hugot” for him.
“Sila ang nagbibigay laman [sa pag-arte ko],” Xian continues. “I wanna take it as a learning process na nga lang.”
Xian reveals Vilma Santos’ ace advice to him: “Paulit-ulit sinasabi ni Tita [Vilma] to ‘just learn from everything you get from the write-ups, sa lahat ng mga sinasabi ng mga tao sa iyo.”
But IMHO, Angel Locsin’s advice sounds better: “Sabi ko sa kanya, kapag lumabas itong pelikula ipapanood mo sa bashers mo para ma-appreciate nila ang pinaghirapan mo. Kasi he’s really good dito sa film na ito.”
Whatever, Xian. Just remember: Haters gonna hate!
