Filipino director Yam Laranas — perhaps best known for his 2004 horror movie Sigaw — is directing a US movie titled The Wanting, according to Hollywood trade rag Variety.
The movie, which stars actors Adam Brody of The OC and Amanda Crew of Silicon Valley, is a horror-thriller based on a short story by Gin de Mesa and Laranas.
According to The Wrap, The Wanting is about “an all-American couple whose dream of starting a family is shattered after they move into the perfect New England neighborhood. Once settled, they soon after descend into the depths of terror as they struggle to survive a genuine threat from a dark presence that appears to want to end their very lives.”
Reports from horror movie news sites describe The Wanting as a movie “in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist.”
Sounds exciting (and scary)!
Shooting for the film began earlier this week in Toronto, Canada.
This isn’t Laranas’ first foray into Hollywood thrillers. He directed the 2008 movie The Echo, the American remake of his movie Sigaw.
His last movie was the 2011 thriller The Road, which stars Alden Richards pre-AlDub fame.
We’re looking forward to seeing your new movie, Yam!
