With its constantly bad traffic, flooding, and human rights violations, it can sometimes feel like Metro Manila is in dire need of a superhero. And thanks to DC Comics, the latest issue (#37) of Wonder Woman gives us the kind of hero our deteriorating metro needs.

In it, Wonder Woman fights the super villain Darkseid in various cities around the metro including Pasig, Mandaluyong, and San Juan. You can even see signboards for Ortigas Ave.

According to the DC website, at the helm of the issue’s visuals were  Filipino artist Carlo Pagulayan and Jason Paz. Two other Filipinos, Stephen Segovia, and Romulo Fajardo Jr. also contributed their work to its pages.

On New Year’s Day, Fajardo shared a page from the comic on his Facebook page. It shows Wonder Woman fighting Darkseid, people running away from an explosion, and a jeepney up in the air with a decal that says “Lodi Motors” — a nod to the Filipino slang term that means “idol.”

And it’s not just Wonder Woman who visited Manila. Based on pages shared by fan Nikko Valenzuela, other members of the Justice League make an appearance too.

Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and the two new Green Lanterns were all in attendance. That statue behind them? That’s the historic Statue of Our Lady of EDSA at the EDSA Shrine.
