Reina Hispanoamericana is a beauty pageant that celebrates Hispanic heritage. It was founded in 1991, is based in Bolivia, and was initially only open to countries in South America.

Representatives from Central America, North America, and Spain joined the competition in the early and mid-2000s.

This is the first year the Philippines, a former Spanish colony, will join the pageant.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Marquez said that she is ready to learn Spanish if it is required by the competition. “I still have to ask because what I know is it is not a requirement. I don’t know if I’m wrong so by tomorrow, we’re going to talk about what needs to be done. But if anything else, I will still fight,” she said.

Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 will be held in in Bolivia in November.

Marquez is the daughter of actors Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno.
