Indie stars shone bright at the recent 2014 Gawad Urian Awards, a lot of them beating more established and popular actors. Held last night, June 17, the big winner was Angeli Bayan, who brought home the award for Best Actress for the film Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan. The indie actress beat Nora Aunor (Ang Kwento ni Mabuti) and Vilma Santos (Ekstra), plus other actresses like Cherie Gil, Eugene Domingo, Agot Isidro, and Lorna Tolentino.

Best Sound: Corinne de San Jose (On the Job)
