Bekimon attacked for his gay Duterte video

Did you ever wonder what President Rodrigo Duterte would sound like if he was speaking in gay lingo? Well, you don’t have to wonder anymore.

On Tue, Jul 5, Bern Josep Persia, who became famous for his Bekimon persona on YouTube, posted a 1:55-minute Facebook video of himself impersonating Duterte — speaking entirely in colorful gay slang yet retaining the president’s Visayan accent.

“Patayin ko kayong lahat. Tigbashin ko kayo, shigmak kung shigmak, mag-coffee party sa mga bahay niyo. Jinojobi ko sa inyis, pag wit kayo umi-stop laro, stop look and listen ng mga kacharutang echos balungos niyong mga yan day, ishumbak ko kayo nang bonggang bongga,” he said on the video.

(“I will kill all of you. I am telling you, if you don’t stop doing those illegal things, I will make you answerable.”)

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the comedian said he’s open to doing Duterte impersonations.

“It’s actually unplanned and unexpected that this video would go viral. I was watching the news yesterday and I saw President Duterte in one of his interviews and I thought how it would sound if we hear him talking in gay lingo,” he said.

The video has already garnered over two million views and has been shared 44,000 times.

But not everyone is a fan of Bekimon’s online stunt.

In a video posted on Thu, Jul 7, Bekimon shared he was confronted by a man for impersonating Duterte.

“Nasa labas ako kanina when a random guy approached me. He said, ‘Hoy, di ba ikaw yung virus sa Facebook ngayon?’,” Bekimon said.

“Nakaloka ako, bigla siyang galit na galit sa akin. Sabi niya, ‘Hoy, bakla ka, wala ka na ngang naitulong sa lipunan, binabastos mo pa yung presidente namin,” he shared.

(“A random man approached me earlier and said, ‘Hey, aren’t you the one who’s ‘viral’ on Facebook now?’ I was shocked, he was very angry at me. He said, ‘You have no contribution to society and yet you have the gall to disrespect our president.'”)

“Galit na galit siya sa akin, minumura niya ako, ginagago ko si President Digong.”

( He was very angry at me. He said I was disrespecting President Duterte.)

In the end, he reminded netizens that his videos, including his Duterte impersonation, are made just for fun.

“Bakit may mga tao na masyadong mahigpit sa buhay? Very cruel about themselves. Ang luwag ng buhay! Be happy,” Bekimon said.

(Why are there people who are so serious? Very cruel about themselves. Lighten up! Be happy.)
