Pia Wurtzbach made headlines when she said Liza Soberano would totally rock as a beauty queen during a Twitter Q&A last January.

But why did she choose the Dolce Amore actress among all the pretty celebrities in the Philippines? Pia said it’s because Liza is a true Filipina beauty.
“When I was asked at the time, it was very quick. On the top of my head, I thought (she’s a) commercial beauty na papasa na Filipina pa rin. Siya ‘yung naisip ko. And she’s young. She can still train. Pia said there can many other celebrities who could be Miss Universe. “But baka kailangan nila i-give up ‘yung mga careers nila dito… Kaya siya yung napili ko,” she told Coconuts Manila and other members of the press during a round interview on Thurs, Apr 14.
The beauty queen is in the country to crown her successor as Miss Philippines Universe at the 2016 Binibining Pilipinas pageant on Sun, Apr 17.
“There were a few who caught my eye because it looked like they were having fun,” she said of the 40 candidates who will compete for the six crowns in the upcoming pageant.
Pia added, “Gusto ko ‘yung ganun, e. Kapag nakita ko yung girl, parang gusto ko siyang maging kaibigan.”
