Why John Lloyd didn’t take his shirt off at Century Superbods finals

Are some things really better left to the imagination?

If you’re wondering how actor John Lloyd Cruz’s abdomen looks now that he’s lost 18 pounds after a much talked about six-week Century Superbods diet, keep wondering. “He doesn’t feel confident about his body because he doesn’t have six-pack abs—yet,” said a source who works closely with the actor. “Especially in a stage full of super bodies. But his arms are more defined now.”

Lloydie was so nervous about going on stage at the Century Superbods finals night on Boracay this weekend, where he was supposed to show off his body. He texted chef Nadine Tengco, who devised the diet program, a day before the event complaining of dizziness.

(We wonder why it didn’t occur to him to pop a Biogesic?)

But he pulled it off eventually. Wearing a pair of orange board shorts and a loose Hawaiian shirt, he sauntered onto the stage amid smoke machines and made silly macho dance moves on the runway, eventually taking the shirt off to reveal a light-grey wife-beater. But he never showed his abs.

“Ang ganda ng arms, pahawak naman,” fellow actress and Century Tuna endorser Anne Curtis teased him. John Lloyd replied: “Do you want to see the rest?” and pretended to take off his shorts.

According to the event’s production staff, he was ready to go topless but there didn’t seem to be enough clamor from the audience. At one point, his hands was all ready to lift his shirt, but Anne Curtis ruined the moment by speaking into the microphone.

From 170lbs, John Loyd now weights 152lbs and he says he feels great: “Pwede pala siya, you can be a better version of yourself…Six weeks training and ito ang na-achieve ko and I couldn’t be happier.”

It took him a month to say yes to the offer. “Yun yung pinaka-mahirap, accepting the challenge. But you know what, now, what used to be unimaginable for me has become a reality. So, very inspiring…I became a stronger biker and a stronger runner after this training and diet. I feel a lot stronger.”
