Pop star Ariana Grande sang the classic Whitney Houston hit song “I Have Nothing” recently, and as expected, her version is being compared with that of Charice’s, when she sang it about six years ago, back when she still had long hair and was still in the closet.
What’s interesting is that David Foster accompanied both singers on piano.
People have different opinions about this comparison. As expected, Ariana fans are saying Ariana did a good job while a lot of Pinoy and Charice fans, of course, are saying that Charice’s version is superior.
Charice has an opinion about this comparison, especially when ABS-CBN.com posted a story entitled “Ariana vs Charice: Who sang “I Have Nothing” better?”
She posted on Instagram:
Sabi nila, wag daw sa social sites. Pero yung iba okay lang? Lol? Eto na!!!! Please. Tigilan nyo na ako with your “comparisons” with other artists. Magaling ang version ni Ariana. Pinakamagaling ang version ni Whitney. Walang nakaka-angat dahil iba iba kaming mga mang-aawit. Kaya hindi maka-move on ang madlang people dahil kayo mismo ang ayaw mag-move on at irespeto ang desisyon ng isang tao. I’ve had it. Una sa lahat, napakalayo ng itsura ko kay Ariana, KAYA BA KAILANGANG PALITAN ANG PICTURE KO? Para makisabay? Malayo parin. Maganda si Ariana. Sobrang nakaka-offend. But I guess yun yung point niyo diba? Ma-offend ako. Alam kong iba iba nag-hahandle ng account na to. Pero nagtataka lang ako kung bakit everytime pagdating sa akin, kung hindi comparison, negative at kakaunti lang ang positive. Kaya iba rin ang tingin sa akin ng ibang tao. Pero on the brighter side, si Ariana yan. Ariana did an amazing job. THERE’S YOUR ANSWER. Wala ng magtatanong sa akin. This is your answer and I’m not mad just a little offended. I’m cool baka isipin ng iba naman, masama ugali ko kasi na “offend” lang ako. God bless and sana puro peace na lang and move on din pag may time. Walang bumabata. Tumatanda na tayong lahat.
