When it comes to his opinions about the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, senatorial hopeful and Sarangani representative Manny Pacquiao should have just kept his opinions to himself. That’s what superstar Nora Aunor thinks he should have done.
“At the height of the furor over Pacquiao’s controversial comments about same-sex unions, Aunor — who was at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA) Ani ng Dangal awards press conference — was asked to comment on the matter,” reports Inquirer.net.
“Nasa gobryeno siya, ‘di ba? Kung ano ang personal na opinyon niya dapat itago na lang niya sa sarili niya (He’s in government service, right? Whatever his personal opinion is, he should have just kept it to himself),” Aunor said.
Aunor said referring to LGBT community members as “lower than animals” was uncalled for. She then added, “Ang masama doon ay sugarol ka, babaero ka. Mas masama ‘yun. Saka huwag niyang sasabihing hayop ang mga miyembro ng LGBT kasi mga tao yun eh (What’s wrong is if you’re a gambler and a womanizer. Don’t compare the LGBT community members to animals because they’re people).”
The report noted: “Pacquiao was once twitted for being a gambler and being involved to various women while married to his wife Jinkee. In earlier reports, the ‘fighting congressman’ said that he became a “changed man” when he turned into an evangelical Christian.”
