What made Imelda Schweighart ‘feel violated’?

Imelda Schweighart, who resigned from being Miss Philippines Earth 2016, can’t help but express her disappointment over the viral video showing her throwing shade on Miss Earth 2016 winner Katherine Espin.

In an interview with Pinky Webb on CNN Philippines on Thu, Nov 23, the 21-year-old student-model said she felt “violated” after the video was uploaded online.

To recall, the video — presumably taken after the Miss Earth 2016 pageant last Sat, Oct 29 —  features Imelda pointing out that Espin allegedly has a “fake nose, fake chin, fake breasts.”

Imelda had earlier apologized for the video and resigned as Miss Philippine Earth 2016 over the controversy.

“I feel bad for Katherine [because] she will watch it over and over again and people will bother her with that over and over again,” Imelda told Webb.

She added, “I feel violated. Why would that fellow Filipinos put that video online? Like, why would you do that.”

Imelda was surprised she did not make as one of the pageant’s top 16 finalists, after her predecessors Jamie Herrell and Angelia Ong won the Miss Earth crown in 2014 and 2015.

“I was (surprised). I was expecting. I was expecting I would get in because I’m on point in everything,” she remarked.

Imelda added she felt like she lost because “people somehow didn’t want the Philippines to win another Miss Earth crown.”

She explained: “Maybe that’s where I got anxiety attacks with that energy. Because I’m a very, very sensitive person.”
