In various online forums, the phenomenal AlDub loveteam is being called “The Unexpected Love Team”.
But this is not the first time on Philippine TV that producers were caught by surprise at the chemistry of two actors on set.
Bobby Andrews and Angelu de Leon were one of the hottest onscreen love teams of the 90’s and their rise to fame started in the teen oriented show T.G.I.S. (Thank God It’s Sabado).
In a candid interview at The Ryzza Mae Show, Angelu said, like the partnership of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, her team up with Bobby was also an accident.
“Ang nakakatawa sa love team namin [ni Bobby], accidentally in love ‘yung dating kasi hindi naman talaga kami ‘yung dapat ipa-partner sa isa’t isa. Kaya parang ‘pag nakikita namin si AlDub, parang ganoon ‘di ba, accidentally in love sila. Hindi naman sinasadya pero sa tamang pagkakataon, nagkaroon sila ng chance na mahalin ‘yung isa’t isa,” Angelu said.
Asked about their first meeting, Bobby said he was starstruck because he had a crush on Angelu at that time.
“Natulala ako kasi crush ko na si Angelu noon. Tapos noong nagkita na, nagpakilala nga sya, tapos bumeso. Yun ang di ko makakalimutan, kasi first time ako naka-beso ng artista, crush ko pa. Syempre ginalingan ko talaga sa auditions, kasi sayang naman ang pagkakataon kung hindi ko sya makakasama sa programa” Bobby said.
Angelu says she’s also a huge fan of AlDub: “Happy ako noong Saturday. Birthday ko noon tapos pinapanood ko sila. Buti na lang [ay] hindi natuloy ‘yung kasal kaya masaya ‘yung birthday ko.”
