Welcome this Californian rock band to Manila

Post-hardcore band Thrice will be holding a concert at SM City North EDSA’s Skydome tomorrow. Formed in 1998, this will be the group’s first time to perform for their fans in the Philippines.

Tickets are priced at PHP2,690 (US$51.22) and are available at SM Tickets. The show starts at 8pm.

Thrice is known for their alternative rock sounds and for hits like Black Honey, The Artist In The Ambulance, and Hurricane.

Meet up with fellow K-Pop fans

K-Pop continues to grow in international popularity, thanks to supergroups like BTS and Blackpink, but we all know it’s been a big deal in the Philippines for years.

This weekend, new and longtime Filipino hallyu (Koren Wave) fans can look forward to K-POP it’s Friday! — an event that brings together more than 20 brands that sell K-Pop merchandise.

There will also be cosplaying, a dance competition (including a BTS dance showdown), talks on K-Beauty, and Korean food.

It will be held at Century City Mall in Makati City on Friday starting 11am. The entrance fee is PHP190 (US$3.62).

Bring together your love for live music and video games

“Going to the symphony” usually has a posh or intimidating connotation, but this upcoming concert by the Manila Symphony Orchestra is perfect for those who aren’t yet familiar with classical music.

Bringing together high art and pop culture once again is Video Game Symphonic, a concert featuring symphonic versions of classic video game and anime soundtracks. This will include songs from Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Angry Birds, and Super Mario.

It will be held at the Ayala Museum on Sunday at 7pm. Limited premier tickets are priced at PHP1,000 (US$19.04), while regular tickets are PHP700 (US$13.33). Discounts are available for senior citizens and students.

Get creative in Manila’s Intramuros

The Philippines’ historic Intramuros district will be turned into a contemporary art space on Sunday for the upcoming We ART Intramuros.

The event is mainly a bazaar for emerging artists and craftsmen where visitors can buy pieces of art, comics, and jewelry, among other things.

However, those who want to explore their creative side as well can take part in workshops including ones on basic acrylic painting and writing in the ancient Philippine script Baybayin.

It will be held at the Puerta Real Gardens from 2pm to 9pm.

Attend a roundtable with local women leaders at our Coconuts Colloquium

Venue: Dulo MNL, 4992 P. Guanzon St., Poblacion, Makati City

Coconuts Colloquiums have been held in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Jakarta and next week, it’s coming to Manila.

This month’s panel will be comprised of fierce women leaders and will discuss the struggles, rewards, and learnings of Filipina bosses.

COCO+ members can join the conversation and feast on free-flowing food and drinks for free, while non-members can buy tickets online for PHP350 (US$6.67). The door charge is PHP450 (US$8.57).

It will be held in Dulo MNL on Tuesday, May 28 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm.
