Watch: ‘Miss Ko Na’ the first 360-degree video shot in the Philippines

There are so many awesome things about the song, “Miss Ko Na”. It’s the final product, the culmination of Google Philippines’ month-long “Miss Ko Na” project.

First, it asked Filipino OFWs all around the world to submit through social media what they miss most about home.

These were then incorporated in a cute and catchy song performed by four of the band scene’s biggies: Ebe Dancel, Sponge Cola, Itchyworms, Kwjan. For good measure, it also features Filipino-Canadian comedian Mikey Bustos.

The song was launched a day after we celebrated National Heroes’ Day, on Tue, Sep 1, at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, where Google Philippines country manager Ryan Morales said, “Google chose to release a song in honor of the ‘modern-day heroes’”.

But the best part? The song’s accompanying music video. According to Mashable, this is the first ever 360-degree video shot in the Philippines. Meaning, it’s an interactive little thing that allows the viewer to spin the video around while watching it.

As in: when you place your cursor on the YouTube screen, you will see the familiar white glove, signaling you click on it and start scrolling left to right, and right to left — a lot like Google Maps!

The feature was launched in March 2015. And while “Miss Ko Na” isn’t the first Asian 360-degree video (the honor goes to Korean Boyband, who released theirs in July), this is the first Filipino 360-video one. And the fact that it’s dedicated to our modern-day heroes…we hope this alleviates the irritation and hurt that the Bureau of Customs has caused our heroes.

Mabuhay kayo, ma’am/sir! And we miss you, too.

PS. This one is also for you.
