Disney Pixar’s animated film Coco is coming out tomorrow in the Philippines.

And ahead of its Philippine release, Disney Philippines released its version of the theme song Remember Me as sung by Iñigo Pascual, one of the most popular young singers in the country today. The music video was uploaded on Disney Music Asia’s YouTube page last Friday.

The song is originally sung in the movie by Mexican-American singer Miguel.

“The song speaks about, ‘Remember me for the positive things I did, remember me even if I have to travel far.’ Make every second count. Be you, be yourself,” Pascual told fans during a Q&A last week.

He also told ABS-CBN News it reminded him of his friend the late Franco Hernandez, the member of the boyband Hashtags who died in a drowning accident on Nov. 11.

“The song kind of reminded me of him, and kind of made me realize a lot of things,” he said. “I could say that Franco left a very good impact on all of us. He’s going to be forever in our hearts.”

The film is set in Mexico during the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) holiday. The story revolves around Miguel, a 12-year-old who dreams of becoming a musician and finds himself in the colorful “land of the dead.”

Pascual shot scenes for the music video in Cebu City’s Fort San Pedro, which was built during the early days of Spanish colonization.
