WATCH: Filipino musicians play ‘Game of Thrones’ opening theme with native instruments

How different would Westeros be if it were in Southeast Asia?

Filipino musical group Kontra-Gapi gave us a little taste of what “Game of Thrones” would be like if it were Asian when they covered the theme song using native Filipino instruments earlier this month.

According to the group’s website, the group’s name is short for Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino (Contemporary Gamelan Filipino).

Kontra-Gapi’s instruments used in the video include “percussion instruments such as gongs and drums of graduated sizes, wood and metal xylophones of varied timbre, flutes and whistles, assorted bamboo, wooden and metal percussion and voices for expressing vocables and for singing.”
