Vice President Jejomar Binay admits that he learned a lot about Philippine history when he watched Heneral Luna. He explained that there were things that he didn’t know before.
“Di ko kasi alam na pinagtataga pala si [General Antonio Luna]. I understand na merong sumulat na nakitaan siya ng maraming taga sa katawan (I didn’t know Luna got hacked to death. I understand someone wrote that his body bore multiple hack wounds),” said the 72-year-old Vice President Jejomar Binay, while recounting the movie experience he had over the weekend.
“Binay said his experience watching Heneral Luna was different from his usual experience of watching movies,” reports Jorge Carino on ABS-CBNnews.com.
“Ang madalas ko masabi, nakakatulog ako sa sine, pero doon talagang di ko natulugan. Talagang pinanood ko ng maigi para maalala ko ang Philippine history (I often say that I fell asleep during a movie, but with this movie I stayed awake. I watched it so I would remember Philippine history),” said Binay.
The VP said more movies of such kind should be produced in the country. He wants ‘Heneral Luna’ to achieve momentum so that other personalities in our history can be glorified before the silver screen.
“Sana naman mag-gain ng momentum sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas (I hope it gains momentum in the country),” he said.
