Even Vogue is not immune to the charms of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
In an article published by Vogue on its website dated Dec. 18, it talked about how Gray’s signature “lava walk” created a social media storm when the Filipino-Australian model showcased it during the pre-pageant swimsuit presentation in Bangkok.
It also added how even supermodel Tyra Banks was impressed by Gray’s catwalk performance.
The article goes: “Memorable thanks to her confident stride and final twirl, the strut caught the attention of supermodel Tyra Banks, who retweeted the clip and added some America’s Next Top Model–esque commentary.”
Earlier this week, Banks tweeted: “I mean…Pinoy Power to the Max!!!” while sharing a video of Gray’s walk.
She also congratulated the beauty queen for her win, saying: “You did it! And that walk and confidence? I mean…NEXT LEVEL FIERCE!!! TyTy approves.”
The Vogue article talks about how, wearing her Mayon Volcano-inspired Mak Tumang gown, Gray gave a performance to remember at Miss Universe’s coronation day.
It added that Gray’s catwalk stride might help her become a successful model in the world’s fashion capitals.
“Only time will tell if her signature stomp will find its way to Milan or Paris, but given that 2016’s Miss Universe winner Iris Mittenaere wound up walking couture for Jean Paul Gaultier, it may only be a matter of time before the lava walk hits the runway,” the article reads.
Gray shared screenshots of the article on her Instagram stories. She didn’t say much about it but judging by the crying and heart eyes emojis she used it seems like she was overjoyed.
As of today, the article is the most shared post on Vogue‘s site.
