We always hear that parents are willing to go great lengths to make their kids happy — but to actually see a dad forgo a meal just to feed his two daughters is pretty heartwrenching.
A photo of a selfless father watching his children eat in a popular fast food chain has now gone viral on FB. According to the post, the dad didn’t eat to make sure his daughters enjoy. It is safe to assume that his money was not enough to cover three fried chicken meals, which cost about PHP100 each.
Jhunnel Sarajan, who shared the post over the weekend, said that the photo is a depiction of “a father’s love” and “genuine selflessness.” It has reached over 100,000 likes 55,000 shares on social media.
Netizens who were moved by the story expressed their interest to help, or at least treat the dad to a decent meal.
Wanting to convert his compassion to action, Jhunnel said that he went back to the area to try and look for the inspiring dad in the now-viral photo. He told Coconuts Manila how he eventually found Tatay (father) Ryan and got to know his story.
The 38-year-old father from Tondo suffered mild stroke and was not able to receive the therapy he needed. His wife left him because of his condition.
Tatay Ryan always takes his daughters to church every Sunday. He uses the money he makes as a street vendor to treat his kids to a Jollibee meal — clearly, he has been sacrificing so much just to see his kids happy.
Jhunnel is encouraging people to help. He added details abot how to reach out and help.
BTW, Jhunnel himself treated Tatay Ryan and his daughters to a meal, too.
