These Manileños are taking Dubsmash videos to a different level. Unlike others clips we’ve seen that last all of 10 seconds, these ones, shot in atmospheric Tondo, last about five minutes each. What happens? A group of young men re-enact scenes from the movies of the late Fernando Poe Jr. The “actors” do not use their own voices in the films. Instead, they lip-synch the dialogues.
The brain behind these videos is film student Jayjay Dela Cruz. He directs the entire sequence while his friends act on camera as if they are real movie stars. He’s been doing this for some time now, and has been featured on ABS-CBN, but there’s renewed interest after he uploaded Batas ng.45 early this week.
His previous works have been picked up by various local Facebook fan pages and these videos have been viewed millions of times. As of this writing, their group has already made seven videos — including Ang Probinsyano, Pagbabalik Ng Probinsyano, Iyo Ang Tondo, Kanya ang Cavite, Ang Dalubhasa and Kahit Butas Ng Karayom. Here are our top three picks:
