Vice President Jejomar Binay is going all out. Apart from selecting Alden Richards as the actor who would play him should there be a biopic about him, the 72-year-old presidential aspirant also gave the critically-acclaimed biopic Heneral Luna, a thumbs up.

Napakagandang pelikula. Saludo ako sa lahat ng gumanap at gumawa ng pelikulang ito,” Binay, who is currently mired in corruption allegations tweeted.

In a press conference with entertainment reporters, Binay also shared some of this takeaways after watching the movie.

Set during the Philippine-American war, Heneral Luna follows the life of the short-tempered Gen.Antonio  Luna, as he tries to lead his countrymen during a revolution. The film is directed by Jerrold Tarog and is the country’s official bet in the Best Foreign Film category at the 2016 Academy Awards.

Actor John Arcilla, who played Gen. Luna, is overwhelmed by the response of his fellow Filipinos.

May mga nagsasabi na na-touch daw sila and naiyak daw sila and for the first time daw naramdaman ‘yung pagka-Pilipino. Nakakatuwa,” John said.

While Heneral Luna has been chosen to represent the country in the Oscars, John encouraged movie buffs to continue boosting the film so it has a bigger chance of making the final cut.

“May lobbying pa. Kailangan pa ng matinding suporta,” he told ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda.
